As far as I can remember, it was at the age of 7 that the truly existentialist questioning of the human condition began to be a real nourishment of the mind. It started with my own fear of death, facing an aging maternal grandmother. Unknowingly it was going to be the beginning of a journey in which my questions and curiosity about death, pain and suffering of human experience would guide me many years later to the heart of health care. Yet, as a child, my dream was to become a journalist reporter, combining my aspirations for travel and writing. It is for this reason that I like to say, without any regret, that I have not chosen the art of healing but that the art of healing has chosen me, in this sense, that healing has become obvious. This evidence, which I call a vocation, is an calling beyond the intellect, it is viscerally embedded in us and in some way in our DNA. My career as a nurse has given me the opportunity to work with wonderful and unique human beings, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly in the departments such as orthopaedic surgery, general medecine, oncology, palliative care, geriatrics and psychiatry. The range of somatic care has given me the opportunity to observe the cycle of life from birth to death and to understand pain and suffering in all its diversity. However, I discover that behind some somatic pain lies another pain, more subtle and burried. This pain is psychic pain. And it is this pain that I have endeavoured to grasp over the years to develop a better understanding of the human being. If I had indeed knowledge of the physiology of the body I needed to deepen my knowledge of the physiology of the mind. The cry of my patients through their psychic distress, especially in oncology, was a real driving force to undertake studies in psychology.
At the end of my studies, it is therefore a holistic vision of the care and therapeutic advice combining the body and the mind that I wish to put at your disposal. It is a vision based on the sciences of the physiology of the mind as well as the body thus encompassing the psychological, biological, social, and also spiritual dimensions.
Based on my passion of care and my strong expertise of nearly 20 years as nurse at the bedside of over a thousand patients, this holistic vision was born from a personal project called “better care of the diamond” that leaves out the fresh look at, through the prism of a diamond, the person you are and your personal experience, so offering you the highest standard of support you deserve.
"Better care of the diamond"
I am pleased to offer a supportive therapy which is based on my knowledge in psychology enhanced by neurosciences and, on the other hand, on my knowledge in somatic and psychiatric care through my long career in nursing care. Hence, my approach offers you care and therapeutic advice at the psychological, biological, social and also spiritual level. This spiritual component, especially the Christian context, playing a central role in many people’s life but little raised in therapy, finds its place through my approach for anyone who wishes to explore and foster the spiritual perspective.
My approach "better care of the diamond" is part of the highest dignity and humanity of the person that you are, judgment-free and comparison-free to others, in order to give you this support that will enable you to find more comfort, confidence and fulfillment in life, as well as better self-knowledge and self-development.
